Top-up credits Never expire 5 min read

Quick answer

Top-up credits are extra ProfileSpider credits you can buy when you need more than your plan allowance. Top-ups never expire. Subscription credits are spent first, which preserves top-up credits for later. Top-ups use your current plan’s maximum profiles-per-page cap.

Overview

What Top-Up Credits Are

Top-ups give you extra credits without changing your subscription plan.

  • Extra credits

Top-ups add extra credits to your account when your normal plan allowance is not enough.

  • Never expire

Top-up credits do not expire. They roll forward until you spend them.

  • Subscription first

ProfileSpider spends subscription credits before top-up credits, preserving top-ups for later.

  • Uses your plan cap

Top-up credits use your current plan’s maximum profiles-per-page limit.

  • Same credit actions

Top-ups can be used for the same credit-using actions as normal credits.

  • No monthly reset

Unlike monthly subscription credits, top-up credits do not reset at the end of the billing cycle.

When

When to Buy Top-Up Credits

Top-ups are useful when you temporarily need more capacity.

  • Buy top-ups when you run out of subscription credits before your next billing reset.

  • Buy top-ups for a one-off sourcing project, client campaign, event list, or research batch.

  • Buy top-ups when you need more credits but do not want to upgrade your recurring plan yet.

  • Buy top-ups when you expect occasional spikes in scraping, enrichment, or email finding.

  • Consider upgrading your plan instead if you regularly need more credits every billing cycle.

Spend order

How Top-Up Credits Are Spent

ProfileSpider protects top-ups by spending subscription credits first.

  • Subscription credits first

Monthly or yearly subscription credits are spent before top-up credits.

  • Top-ups second

Top-up credits are used after subscription credits are spent.

  • Unused top-ups stay

Unused top-up credits roll forward because they do not expire.

  • Monthly credits reset

Monthly subscription credits reset each billing cycle and do not roll over.

  • Yearly credits are instant

Yearly plan credits are granted immediately for the year, not dripped month by month.

  • Free credits are separate

Free plan credits are one-time credits and are not a monthly recurring allowance.

Usage

What Top-Up Credits Can Be Used For

Top-ups cover the same credit-using actions as normal credits.

  • Page scraping

A normal page scrape uses 1 credit per page.

  • Enrichment

Enrichment uses 1 credit per URL opened.

  • Bulk enrichment

Bulk enrichment uses 1 credit per eligible page in that flow.

  • Person email finding

Person email finding uses 3 credits per verified email returned.

  • Company email finding

Company email finding uses 3 credits when at least one valid email is returned, up to 20 emails.

  • Exports use 0 credits

Exporting saved lists to CSV, Excel, or JSON does not use credits.

Plan cap

Top-Ups Use Your Current Plan Cap

Top-ups add credits, but they do not change your profiles-per-page limit.

  • Free

    Maximum 5 profiles per page.

  • Starter

    Maximum 25 profiles per page.

  • Pro

    Maximum 100 profiles per page.

  • Power

    Maximum 200 profiles per page.

Buying

How to Buy Top-Up Credits

Use the upgrade or billing flow when you need extra credits.

  • 1. Check your balance

Open the extension and check your current credit balance in the footer.

  • 2. Choose top-up credits

Go to the plan, upgrade, or billing area and choose the top-up option that matches your expected usage.

  • 3. Complete payment

Top-up purchases are handled through ProfileSpider’s payment flow and Stripe billing systems.

  • 4. Wait for balance update

Your credit balance updates after the top-up is applied to your account.

  • 5. Continue scraping

Use the extra credits for page scraping, enrichment, or email finding.

  • 6. Export when ready

Exporting saved lists still uses 0 credits.

Balance

Where to See Your Credit Balance

In the extension, your credit balance appears in the footer.

The footer uses color coding: red when you have 3 or fewer credits, yellow when you have 10 or fewer credits, and green when you have 11 or more credits.

On team accounts, the Team page shows a separate Team Credit Pool card with available and total team credits plus a progress bar.

Billing

Billing, Invoices, and Payment Management

Subscriptions, invoices, payment details, and cancellations are handled through the Stripe Customer Portal.

ProfileSpider does not currently show a full in-app transaction history list.

The product shows aggregate credit counters, and team accounts show current-cycle per-member team credit usage.

Teams

How Top-Ups Work on Teams

Team top-ups are part of the shared team credit pool.

  • Shared team pool

Team top-up credits are added to the shared Team Credit Pool.

  • Access is per member

Admins control which members can spend from the team credit pool.

  • Personal credits stay personal

Free and personal credits are never pooled into the team credit pool.

  • Current-cycle usage

The Team page shows member credit usage from the team pool for the current billing cycle only.

Decision

Top-Ups vs Upgrading Your Plan

Choose based on whether your extra usage is occasional or recurring.

  • Buy top-ups when usage spikes

Top-ups are useful for occasional extra projects, temporary campaigns, or one-off research batches.

  • Upgrade when usage is regular

Upgrade your plan if you regularly need more credits or a higher profiles-per-page cap.

  • Plan cap matters

Top-ups add credits but use your current plan’s page cap. Upgrading can increase the maximum profiles per page.

  • Yearly plans give more upfront

Yearly credits are granted instantly, which can be useful when you know you need a larger annual credit pool.

Examples

Top-Up Credit Examples

Common cases where top-ups make sense.

  • Event research spike

You need to scrape sponsor and exhibitor pages for a conference before your next billing reset.

  • Agency client project

An agency needs extra credits for a client sourcing sprint without changing the recurring plan yet.

  • Local lead batch

You are building local business lists across several cities and need more credits temporarily.

  • Bulk enrichment run

You have a saved list with many eligible profiles and want to enrich them before export.

  • Email finding pass

You want to find emails for reviewed rows before exporting the final list.

  • Market research batch

You are mapping companies in a niche and need extra credits for a one-off research project.

Limits

What Top-Ups Do Not Do

  • Top-ups do not change your current plan’s maximum profiles-per-page cap.

  • Top-ups do not create an in-app transaction history list.

  • Top-ups do not make saved local lists shared across team members.

  • Top-ups do not expire at the end of the billing cycle.

  • Top-ups do not make exports cost credits. Exports still use 0 credits.

  • Top-ups do not replace the Stripe Customer Portal for billing and invoice management.

Best practices

Best Practices for Top-Up Credits

  • Clean your list before enrichment or email finding so credits are not spent on irrelevant rows.

  • Use top-ups for temporary spikes and upgrade your plan for recurring high usage.

  • Remember that subscription credits are spent before top-up credits.

  • Remember that top-ups never expire.

  • Check your current plan cap before buying top-ups if you need to extract more profiles per page.

  • Export important lists regularly because saved profiles and lists are stored locally in your browser.

Troubleshooting

Common Top-Up Credit Questions

  • Balance looks low

Check whether your subscription credits have been spent. Top-up credits are used after subscription credits.

  • Still hitting profile limits

Top-ups add credits, but they use your current plan cap. Upgrade your plan if you need a higher profiles-per-page limit.

  • Team member cannot spend top-ups

For team top-ups, check whether the member has team pool access enabled.

  • Need invoices

Use the Stripe Customer Portal for invoices, subscription, payment, and billing management.
